Hamish Rogers couldn't play because of his foot that he hurt during a practise game at Kenilworth school astro turf on Sunday because the match was off because of a watelogged pitch as we were meant to play Bilton Ajax at home, Thomas Wiltshire, and Harry Goodwin were also not playing.

They kicked off. The sides played equally well. The pitch was full sized and had seats around it and it was Knowles stadium (The adults) and we normally play on a three quater size pitch.

The ball just went backwards and forth and not testing neither of the goalkeepers.

Dan Hunt had the ball he weaved in and out through the players like they ere cardboard cut outs but got tackled and won a corner. The corner came in. Their player got to it first and cleared out as far as Henry (The edge of the box). Henry controlled the ball and hit it. The ball was swiveling in the air. Unfortunately the goalkeeper stopped it. The goalkeeper kicked out the ball getting out of their misery. We got to the ball first and Sean had a shot but the goalkeeper had it safetly in his hands and rolled it to a player.

Stan did a very good long through ball to Dan Hunt who then on his own and was not offside. Dan kept on running and neatly placed the ball past the keeper and into the back of the net! 0-1

Kenilworth Town were ahead of the game but just a few seconds before half time disaster struck! The ball was scrambled into the box Henry tried to clear the ball but when he went to kick the ball a slide tackle came in and took the ball off Henry. They had a shot and unfortunately scored. A few seconds after the whistle went for half time.

Half time score: Knowle Hornets 1 - 1 Kenilworth Town

After half time it went Knowles way and they created a few chances. With good defensive work at the back Kenilworth Town hadn't conceded a goal after all of their counter attacks. Jack Honess did well at the back and when there was a chance to get the ball Sean would take it, Sprinting down the wing and so desperate.

They had a really big counter attack right at the end. It was a long range short. Jonathans outstretched arms saved the day with a magnificent save but it was not time for admiring as one of their players was by the post to get te rebound. He was two feet away from the goal. He hit the ball. It went up and hit the crossbar and Kenilworth Town kicked the ball out for safety but they still had 20 seconds to play. They couldn't turn off now!

Finally the full time whistle went and a big sigh of relief came from the Kenilworth Town players and supporters.

"It was very nailbiting. It was just like watching Coventry," is the words from Roger Hunt (Dan Hunts dad and not the Roger hunt that played in the world cup final for England and many other matches).
