Kenilworth
Town starting Line up:
Oller; Bond; Hartley; Gillespie; Moscrop; Macnamara; Hill; Moss;
Green; Meade; Hunt; Sub: Bale.
Bondy decided to change the formation to 4-4-2 from 3-5-2 with Hamish
Rogers, Thomas Wiltshire, Jack Honess and Harry Goodwin not playing.
Warwick Wanderers opened the scoring leaving us thinking “Here
we go again”. 0-1
In the course of about 3 minutes Sean Meade equalized with a simple
tap in from a high shot which the goalkeeper saved leaving Meade
the rebound. 1-1
Warwick
Wanderers came back with a big blast over everyone’s heads
leaving George Martin to run onto as he was not offside. It was
up to Jonathan
to run out and either pick the ball up or kick it away. He did just
that and kicked it away.
Mark
from Warwick Wanderers did a good ball to their No. 16. Hartley
sprinted back, tackling him just as he was just about to shoot with
their Number 16 ended up on the floor.
Warwick
Wanderers went ahead on roughly 16 minutes with a pass round Oller
on a one on one. 1-2
Warwick
Wanderers had a huge counter attack but with good work at the back
it prevented them getting through and shooting.
On
27 minutes Green kicked it in the back of
the net with his left foot at the back post from a corner. 2-2
Soon
after this another corner was given with about 30 seconds to go
until half time. The corner was whipped in with a glancing header
from Hunt to score his second of the season. 3-2
We
were really chuffed because we were leading at half time.
Half
Time Score: Kenilworth Town 3 - 2 War Wanderers.
There
were the odd few shots in the second half but no-one scored. At
one time Warwick Wanderers had a big counter attack and it went
to someone alone in the box who was just about to shoot but Hartley
was there to save the day and tackled him and cleared it out.
With
16 minutes to go Bondy brought on Josh Bale and took off Harry Moscrop.
With
3 minutes to go Warwick Wanderers equalized out of a shot from the
back of the people and it went over everyone including Jonathans
stretched arms from a corner to make the score 3-3
We had one last counter attack but still we did not score. The final
whistle went. We were happy that we drew but we were sad that we
were so close to winning, but didn’t.
It was always going to be a close game. It was a vital draw as Kenilworth
Town have lost all their other games.
